Tempered glass pays for itself as the sacrificial layer: keys, grit and a dropped set of headphones meet the protector instead of the original screen. Protection, impact and the year ahead

In use the finish is a plain clear finish that keeps colour and brightness the way the panel renders them. The oleophobic coat keeps smudges from setting, so a dry microfibre pass clears the screen. Touch and typing feel the same as bare glass. When the protector finally takes a hit, the damage stays in the sacrificial layer and the original screen comes out clean — then the sheet lifts off and a fresh one goes down. With 2 sheets in the box there is room for a second attempt. Clean the panel with the alcohol wipe first and lift dust with the sticker; those two steps decide whether the fit is bubble free.
